A letter chafing at the boredom of country life, beginning, perhaps characteristically, "Ay, Ay, as you say my dear, Men are vile Inconstant Toads", only to note ruefully later on that she has "for company not a mortal man but ye parson of ye parish". (See Burney Collection correspondence).
